Please make The Great American Fourth of July and Other Disasters available for purchase or rent. I would like my children to see that movie. Or please show it on WGBH several times during the summer so as to allow people with different schedules to see it. Also, advertise its showing.

Mom got me listening to Shep on WOR who knows when. I wanted a ham license but got stuck with CB radio. Eventually I connected with a group in Queens NY that offered a Novice class....WN2SGT. I learned CW from a simple 80 mtr receiver tuned to W1AW. I graduated from RCA Institutes in 1974....WB2SGT Advanced Never became a broadcast engineer....worked HF and VHF/UHF systems for a few years. Met Shep at concert when he told me had no interest in ham radio....showed up at Dayton banquet as speaker. Yup....25 trips to Dayton I've made. Cherryville Rpt. group got me my hard won EXTRA.....still WB2SGT. I can quote all the RF crap....RADAR mast on 6 meters, electrolyctic rectifiers boiling over burning the carpet, lawn chairs (NJ concert) for electrocution. Few kids heard Shep...role model...I became a HF engineer till satellites took away the industry. Never went to Dayton banquet....FM Bash was way to go. MLK had a dream...Shep placed fruit in glass jars buried in the sand where Japz won't find. I'll always take an 811 over an 807...won't tax my bladder. 73 de WB2SGT EXTRA CLASS.

I make trainzz go. My buddy on SubChat.com linked me because I'm heavy into ham radio and Shep. As a teenager, I listend to Shep regularly and wanted my ticket. Hit all the radio stores on West 45th street in NYC asking 'how to.' Several years later, a club in Queens offered a NOVICE course. Became WN2SGT. Graduated from RCA Institutes as WB2SGT. Never got to work in broadcasting...speciality was HF engineering and FM mobile. Shep got me started from his broadcasts. Shep was K2ORS. Type 'tracksionmotor' to link my wacky posts. 'Jean, you'll shoot your eye out.' 'I held down the key too long...my home-made electrolyctic capacitors in pops beer glasses boiled over and burned a hole in the floor.' K2ORS de WB2SGT 73s and 88s

I am WB2SGT extra class check 73. Sooo hard to get connected as a kid in NYC to become a ham back then. I'd listen to Shep on WOR with my National NC-33. The shops on West 45th street were no help... Elekchester ARC ran a program at Hall of Science in Queens and I was off. I graduated RCA Institutes with my 2nd Class Commercial and Amateur Advanced FCC licences. I grew up without a father present and Shep was a major influence. Gone through HF radio, electromechanical control systems and now I am a qualified railroad Car Inspector and Test Technician. It was the guys off Subchat.Com that gave me this link. I'm also a court recognised firearms expert....'Jean, you'll shoot your eye out.'

I am a devoted fan of Max Schmid's WBAI "Mass Backwards" show and listen to the Jean Shepard shows Tuesday mornings from 5:15AM-6AM. I started in 1998. I am too young to remember Shep when he was on WOR orginally and am greatful to max for his efforts to bring Shep back to the airwaves.

Have been talking about the old PBS Series today due to our annual viewing of one of the greatest movies of all time "A Christmas Story". Would like to locate DVD's or VHS's of the PBS shows if they exist for viewing again (and for the first time!) Mr. Shepherd was one of the truly great American story tellers, and will live on for generations to come. ( I do hope there's 'lotsa recorded material out there!) Season's Greetings, everyone, and thanks for this site!-Tommy
