On May 23, 1952, while working in Philadelphia, Lee Allen -- later to be named baseball historian at the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown -- and Phillies manager Eddie Sawyer engaged in a "Baseball Talkathon" from 11:15 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on KYW radio . The pair answered questions telephoned to several operators and forwarded to moderator Jean Shepherd.
