Shep opens with the story of Becky Alexander, the new Washington state Wheat Queen, who turned out to be allergic to wheat. (clipping attached)
It's Presidents Day and all of the front office staff has the day off. Some will be surprised to find their locks have been changed when they come back Tuesday.
Shep wonders how George Washington came to symbolize the selling of toasters.
He tells a story of a friend who worked for an ad agency. The friend became involved in an unfortunate incident involving the Easter Bunny getting stuck in a revolving door.
A listener sent him a copy of her 8th grade son's book report on "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash." Shep tears it apart.
This leads to an observation that readers often think an author's book is automatically autobiographical when it is written in the first person.
