Prexy's
Located all up and down Lexington Avenue and in the Village, Prexy's was frequented by Shep in the early sixties. ------------------------------------------- Free Stawberry Shortcake On at least 2 of his shows, Wednesday - March 1, 1961 - "One Man Shows" and Thursday - March 2, 1961 - "Shoeshines and Creative Obstructionism", Shep tells everyone to go into the new Prexy's at 6th Ave and 8th Street and whisper Excelsior. The man behind the counter will make you a Strawberry Shortcake with soft ice cream on top - for free. ------------------------------------------- Prexy's Placemat The Prexi drawing below is one Shep told listeners on a broadcast that they would find if they turned the paper placemat / menus over. "...and there it was when I followed orders." explains Gene Bergmann who ran right over to get one. The original is ten by fourteen inches. The same image was used as an ad for Prexies in the March 16, 1961 issue of the Village Voice.
