I saw him in person at the Lamplighter in the Village. and listened faithfully. In 1965, he appeared at my university (Seton Hall University) and brought down the house. He is a vital part of my flaming youth.

I was doing a search of my great grandmothers maiden name Zudock. The Zudock character is my great grandmothers brother.

I enjoyed Shep for many years while growing up in New Jersey in the 60's, then while attending Penn State in the early 70's (WOR did reach to State College, PA in those days), and finally after graduation while living in Norwalk, CT until he went off the air. In the mid-to-late 60's I spent many school nights, supposedly asleep, listening to Shep on a small crystal radio hidden from my parents. More than once I fell asleep and awoke with that little earphone still in my ear, sometimes pulled from its wire! Your site is excellent. Excelsior!!

I love my dad. He died years ago. But we often found an excuse to go out together when I was a boy just to have fun listening to Jean Shepherd. For my entire life dad was always awarding me with a "bronze" figalagee. Now I'm doing ths same with my kids. And I make sure they listen to Shep too. G-d bless Shep. I think of my dad often, but usually when I listen to Shep.

When I was having a bit of psychological difficulties and feeling in total despair, Shep would provide that glimmer of hope to keep me going so I didn't do what I shouldn't have done. This marvelous site allows me to say thanks.
