This is the day of the antique auto buff in Ormond Beach, as drivers and passengers depart from the Ormond Hotel at 9 a.m. on a 297 mile expedition to the Marco Beach Hotel on the Gulf of Mexico.
Fifty antique autos from 30 to 60 years in age have been entered in the second annual Mackle Antique Auto Tour which features a judging and exhibition July 4, at, the end of the three day trek.
Entrants come from more than 30 Florida cities and the caravan includes such old timers as a 1919 Dodge Touring car, a, 1926 Franklin Runabout and a 1914 Ford Model T.
Jean Shepherd, humorist, TV personality and syndicated radio monologist will be the grand marshal,
arriving from New York in his restored 1931 Chevrolet roadster to lead the tour.
