Cheap, Spooky, Romantic, Rotton Music. Shep had many ways to describe the music he used on his shows. Shep never wanted to be a disc jockey and was fired because of his refusal to play records. He would much rather talk and use the music to punctuate what he was talking about. Whether it was jazz or honky tonk, it always was played in the background while he talked or played along on his jews harp.
