The Hunting of the Snark

An Agony, In Eight Fits

From time to time Shepherd would read poetry. Often it was Robert Service or Haiku, but on this show he elected to read "The Hunting of the Snark" by Lewis Carroll. Shep spends the whole show reading it. At the end he says that this should be required reading by all the under-graduates, twice a year, along with the Army general orders. He compares Carroll's 'nonsense' to Herman Woulk's 'sense' Click on the link to hear the January 29, 1963 Show
