Comments: Shep has been an inspiration for me since I first heard him on WOR. Finaly an adult who understood kiddom! Later as a teen I loved to go to prinston and hear him in lecture in Alander Hall, Sacrafice a few vergins and fly some flying birds from the balkaney. I watched as several little old ladies left the audatroium saying "He dosent talk like that on the raido. He seems like such a nice man on the raido!" Does anyone remember too? Wanda Hicky became the bible to go to prom by. Now Sheps writing and style influence my daily jokes, hummor, phlosophy and writing. People on the receving end only vagly seemvagly to under stand or comprehend that something remotly familur has surfaced.
Excelcear you fat heads!

Comments: Jean Shepherd had a huge effect on my writing from the time I read IN GOD WE TRUST, ALL OTHERS PAY CASH in 1966. My book, ALL YM YLAZY RIVERS, an Indiana Childhood (published January, 2010) is about growing up in Hammond of the 1950's. There are two sequels in the works. I consider Jean Shepherdd my mentor for local color, character development and midwestern writing style...though he will ALWAYS be the master writer for me for this genre. He remains the best. You can check out my book's website at mylazyrivers.com with a couple of sample chapters, and the book is also on Amazon.com. My other favorite stories and books by Shepherd are "Wanda Hickey's Night of Golden Memories"....and THE FERRARI IN THE BEDROOM (a book of brilliant satire). Best wishes to all you fans of my hero, Mr. Shepherd. Looks as if he's your hero too!

Comments: My teenage years were better because of Shep. I grew up in Monmouth County, NJ and listening to Shep talk about the Fort and Red Bank was always so cool!

Comments: My oldest brother, who was a freshman at Dartmouth, came home for the summer and was transfixed by this radio broadcast...soon I (10 years old)was too. I recently lost my brother and was in tears listening to this site. Great happy memories. Thank you. PLR
